Mahaweli Consultancy Bureau is established under Ministry of Irrigation, Sri Lanka, at No. 11, Jawatta Road, Colombo 05, with the objective of providing consultancy services and support services to the government and private sectors both domestically and internationally. The company aspires to be among the top ten in South Asia by 2030 and provide foreign exchange strategies to help the government to overcome the current challenging situation in the country. MCB is an organization with more than 23 years of experience.

The “Wew Gam Pubuduwa” Project, operating under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Lands, and Irrigation, focuses on enhancing rural livelihoods in Sri Lanka’s dry zone. By promoting climate-smart agriculture, entrepreneurship, and sustainable water management, the project addresses climate change impacts and empowers communities with economic resilience and stability.

POSITION: Field Research Assistant (Full time – 3 months

ROLE OVERVIEW: The Field Research Assistant will support data collection and analysis for the economic impact assessment, ensuring the project’s outcomes are effectively documented and contribute to evidence-based decision-making.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Conduct field surveys, interviews, and focus group discussions with project beneficiaries and stakeholders.

Collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative data on income changes, cost savings, and livelihood diversification.

Document success stories and prepare case stories to showcase the project’s impacts.

Support the preparation of comprehensive assessment reports with actionable insights.

Collaborate with the project team and stakeholders to facilitate smooth data collection processes.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

Graduate in a relevant field or Diploma holder (minimum 3 years) with 2 years of experience in the development sector.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and computer applications.

Should have a personal laptop.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Excellent public relations and communication skills.

Should be able to stay and work in field location either Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Kurunegala, Puttalam, Vavuniya, and Mannar districts.
