Position: Field Assistant (Agriculture Project for livelihood)
Working Location: Manthai East or Thunukkai & Olimadu area (Mullaitivu)
Contract period: Till 31st March 2025 (with 2 months’ probation/contract period may be extended) Announcing date / Closing date: 18th April 2023/30th April 2024
Peace Winds Japan (PWJ) is a Japanese non-governmental organization undertaking humanitarian operations across the world. In Sri Lanka, PWJ has been implementing various kinds of resettlement assistance and development projects in the Eastern and Northern parts of the country since 2009
Principal responsibilities:
To Assist implementation and monitoring of the agriculture-based livelihood project in Mullaitivu District within the project period.
Tasks in details:
To visit project sites and communities to monitor the Agriculture project activities and report progress his/her supervisors.
To work at Peace Winds Japan Office in Vavuniya town 2-3 times in a month, depending on
necessity To identify issues that happen in daily operation at the project sites and report to his/her supervisors
To support communication between other Peace Winds Japan staff and beneficiaries
To make necessary coordination with relevant stakeholders such as communities, government
institutions, business partners, and others To carry out any required tasks in the field and the office in consultation with his/her supervisors
Daily traveling to the site by own transportation (Motor Bike).
Knowledge, experience, and skills required:
More than three (3) years of working experience in relevant field.
Degree/Diploma holders in Agriculture or Social Science relevant field (A-level with more than 3 years of related work experience will be considered)
Fluent in oral and written Fluency in Tamil and English.
Excellent communication skills to work with local partners and international staff
Computer literate (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, E-mail and Google Spreadsheet)
Honest, patient, responsible and in good physical condition to meet the job demands Strong motivation to work for community development in Mullaitivu District.
Willingness to follow Peace Winds Japan’s missions and regulations
Resides in Mullaitive and preferable close by the designated area
Knowledge, experience, and skills preferable:
Field experience in livelihood programme, especially related to agriculture, dairy farming and marketing, will be strong advantages
Direct supervisor: Field Officer/Programme Officer
Working hours:
Standard working hours according to Peace Winds Japan regulations A reasonable degree of flexibility is expected when and where required
